Company Background

The very first Staples Office Supplies store was opened in Boston, Massachusetts, USA in May 1986, and was the first of its kind - Office supplies and stationery sold out of the warehouse direct to the customer through a storefront of an Office Supply superstore. The buying power that this gave Staples enabled small firms to make bulk savings on their office supplies that previously had only been given to Fortune 500 companies.

The rise of Staples Office Superstores has been nothing short of meteoric. From those beginnings a little over 20 years ago, Staples has grown to a company with an annual turnover in excess of $16 billion per annum, and one that employs more than 69,000 people selling 7,500 office supply products in 21 countries around the world.

Product Range

The full range of office supplies and products is available on Staples website (www.staples.co.uk) and also through the free Staples catalogue, which is available to pick up in store, or can also be ordered through the website.

Staples website carries anything you may need for your office supplies, including Paper bundles, envelopes, inkjet paper, ink cartridges, glue and sticky tape, right up to workstations, desks and chairs. A small selection of the 7,500 products are shown below:

Paper Supplies - Copier Paper, Envelopes, Inkjet Paper, Laser Paper, Card, Labels, Photo Paper, Recycled Paper

Ink and Toner - Inkjet and Toner cartridges for Epson, Canon, HP, Brother, Lexmark, Samsung and other printers, fax and copiers.

Technology - PCs, Laptops and Notebooks, Cameras, Shredders, Photocopiers, SatNav

Office Supplies - Calendars, Diaries, Filing, flipcharts, staplers, glue, Sticky tape, post-it notes, Hole punches, pens, pencils etc.

Office Furniture - Filing cabinets and cupboards, Safes, fire Safes, Desks, Chairs, Reception Chairs, Workstation cabinets, screens and dividers.

Facilities - Catering supplies, Health and safety signs and equipment, Cleaning products, hardware and tools.

Payment methods

Staples accept all major credit and debit cards, including American Express. Alternatively, you can apply for a Staples Business Account card, and pay by Direct Debit. Staples do not allow customers to pay with cash or payment on delivery through the website (www.staples.co.uk).

Delivery

Order almost anything through the staples.co.uk website, and they will deliver it for free the next day. A minimum order of £30 applies for the free delivery - Anything below this value will be charged at £2.90 for the delivery. Orders received by 5:30pm are normally delivered the next working day between the hours of 7am and 5:30pm.

Returns

Staples will let you return any unwanted office supplies for any reason within 12 months of purchase through their Staples Ordercare program. Simply call them and they will collect free of charge and give you a credit for the unwanted items. however, if the items are not in a resaleable condition, then they do reserve the right to charge you a minimum charge of £15 or 20% of the items sale price as a "restocking fee"

If you choose not to take the Staples Ordercare, then you can still return items within 30 days under similar terms, although if the items are returned after 7 days, you will be charged for collection (currently £3.50+vat).
