Company Background

Angels Fancy Dress was founded back in 1840 by entrepreneur Morris Angel. Using cloth, supplies and second hand clothing he bought from markets, Morris opened a small shop on Saville Row and quickly became popular with the actors of the time.

Over 160 years after its conception, the store has grown to be one of the largest and best known in Europe and today many blockbuster films and theatre productions use costumes hired from Angels. Their warehouse boasts an impressive five miles of racking, all of which holds their selection of fancy dress costumes.

Surprisingly the company is still considered to be a family business with both 5th and 6th generation family members working there today.

Product Range

The range of fancy dress costumes available at Angels is virtually endless. The selection ranges from the classic choices of vicars, nuns, clowns and superheroes to the more adventurous historical costumes and the plain silly cow and penguin options. All of the popular holidays i.e. Halloween, Easter, Christmas and New Year are also catered for.

The costumes are conveniently separated into easy to understand categories on the website so searching for what you want couldn't be easier. In their London store, there are expert staff available at all times to help you with your choice. In addition to the actual fancy dress costumes, Angels can also supply any accessories that you may need. These include wigs, make-up, masks, fangs and teeth, halos, plastic guns and anything else comes to mind. In fact, you can even get coordinating costumes for your dog should you wish.

Angels focuses on adult costumes however they do also have a range for children. They also cater for fuller figured people, petite ladies and individuals who are taller or shorter than the national average. They also have a range of 'couples' costumes which provides the option of coordinating with a loved one.

The website often has a sale on however the range of costumes in the sale at any one time is subject to change. Generally the sale items are offered with a discount of anything between 10 and 40%. If you don't wish to purchase an outfit then Angels also offers the option to hire a costume. The hire charges start at £50 for seven days and a deposit will also be required.

Payment Methods

Angels accepts the following credit cards for purchases: Visa, Visa Delta and Visa Electron, MasterCard, Switch, Solo and American Express. They will also accept personal and company cheques although these have to have cleared before they will despatch your purchase. If you order your fancy dress costume by telephone, then there will be an additional £4.50 charge on top of the purchase price.

Delivery Options

Angels also offers a range of delivery options for customer convenience, including the following.

Standard delivery – guaranteed next day delivery on orders placed before midday Monday to Thursday. Orders placed on Friday, Saturday or Sunday will be picked and posted on Monday for Tuesday delivery. On orders over £70 this service is free of charge however on orders under £70 there is a postage charge of £5.50. The items are delivered either by DHL or Royal Mail depending on their size.

Pick, Pack and Post same day – again this guarantees next day delivery providing you order before 2pm Monday to Thursday. Orders placed on Friday will be picked, packed and posted although they may not arrive until the next working day i.e. Monday. The charge for this service is £9.50 for orders under £70 and £4 for orders over £70.

Pick up from the London store – you can pick your purchase up from Angels' Shaftsbury Avenue store if you are in the area. You must however leave 24 hours between your order being confirmed and the pick up time.

Returns Policy

Angels' returns policy states that you can return items within 14 days of the purchase date providing they are in the same condition as they were when received and that any items with tamper-proof seals still have the seals intact. Items bought over the internet have to be returned by post at your own expense and refunds won't include the original postage costs. Similarly, if you decide to cancel an order but the order has been picked and packed for shipping, you will still be charged the postage costs.
