Wii Fit - The new Fitness game for the Nintendo Wii

Wii Fit is set to be the biggest sensation of 2008, as Nintendo once again revolutionizes the games console market. As with the Wii remote and nunchucks, Wii Fitness introduces a brand new way of playing games that rather than just using your thumbs, uses your entire body.

You stand on the Wii Fit Balance Board, which measures your weight and centre of gravity. It then responds to the very slightest shift of weight or movement, even from your upper body, to replicate over 40 different fitness related activities.

These activites are performed as naturally as you would do them in real life, and include aerobics, yoga, boxing, hula-hooping, heading footballs, jogging (by placing the Wii remote in your pocket, and just jogging as normal), press-ups, tight-rope walking, and even ski-jumping!

In a similar way to Big Brain Academy, Wii fit will calculate your "Wii Fitness Age", and if you feed your height into Wii Fit, it will also calculate your BMI (Body Mass Index), which may make for frightening reading for some of us! There are also plenty of graphs so you can see your BMI and Wii Fitness Age dropping over time. As with almost all Wii Games, Wii Fit incorporates the Wii Mii's that have made the Nintendo Wii games so popular, as you are able to play as "yourself" against your friends and family.

Wii Fit was originally released in Japan on 1st December 2007, and sold an amazing 250,000 copies in its first week alone. By mid-January, it has surpassed the 1,000,000 sales milestone, despite not having been released outside of Japan. Early indications are that it will be released in the United States in April, and the rest of Europe including the UK will see a Wii Fit Release Date of June 2008. Expect it to the years biggest seller at stores such as Argos, Amazon and Play.com, and of course the customary Christmas shortage!
