Company Background

Singapore Airlines began operating In May 1947 when a Malayan Airways Limited Airspeed Consul took off from Singapore's Kallang Airport on the first of three scheduled flights a week to Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh and Penang. During the next twenty years the airline gradually acquired more up to date planes, and when the Federation of Malaysia was created on the 16 September 1963 the airline was called Malaysian Airways Limited. In May 1966 it became Malaysia-Singapore Airlines but in 1972, the two airlines separated, hence the birth of Singapore Airlines. Singapore Airlines today is one of the leading airlines worldwide who provide what many people consider to be five star service.

Product Range

Singapore Airlines operate passenger flights throughout Europe and the Far East offering superb service to long distance destinations and their flight of aircraft is second to none. In fact Singapore Airlines' route network flies to over 100 destinations in 41 countries, although their main routes are the Far East and Australia. They also fly to the United States of America and, as you would expect from one of the major airlines, are constantly striving to improve their destinations and performance. This airline had the first A300 Superbus, the B747-300 Big Top, the B757 and the A310-200. They were also the first airline worldwide to operate an international commercial flight across the Pacific Ocean with the 747-400 Megatop.

The service on board Singapore Airlines aircraft is fantastic, from the bone china flatware to the Bulgari cologne for First Class passengers. The food served consists of a selection of dishes created exclusively for them and accompanied by an excellent wine list. There is also a wonderful children's menu available for the little fliers in the family. The in-flight entertainment offers passengers a wide range of options from movies, TV programmes, music CDs as well as a very good selection of video games and interactive applications. Reading material is also available on most of their flights too!
